Google Sites is a free website builder offered by Google that allows anyone to build and launch a stunning website with just a few drags and clicks. You can create your own website with an internet connection and a Google account. Google Sites also provides templates for non-techies with zero coding and design experience.

Let’s learn how to build a website with these simple steps:

  1. On your computer, open new Google Sites and log in with your Google account.
  2. At the top, under “Start a new site,” choose a template.
  3. Edit your site.
  4. To publish your changes, click “Publish” at the top right.

3.How to Add Content to Your Site

To add content to your Google site, follow these steps:

3.1 Creating a Header

At the top-left of the header, you’ll find a field that says “Enter site name.” The name you enter here will be displayed on your website. You also have the option to add a logo by clicking the “Edit logo” button. It appears small when you hover your mouse over the site name.

In the lower-left of the header section, you have options to edit your background. Choose “Images” to add a background image and select the header type.

Click the “Themes” tab at the top of the menu on the right to customize your Google site’s design. Each theme offers a few preset color schemes and fonts.

3.2 Add or Edit Text, Images, and Media
  1. In the right menu, click “Insert,” and you will see different elements. Select the one you want to add, such as a text box, image, YouTube, map, or calendar.
  2. For the Text Box, click the down arrow ▼and choose the text, heading, or title style you want, then add text to the box.
  3. For the other elements, simply click the file you want and click the “Insert” button to add it to the page.
  4. When you’re done editing the site, click the “Publish” button at the top right to publish your changes.
3.3 Add, Delete, and Organize Pages
  1. In the right menu, click the “Pages” tab and hover the mouse over the “Add+” button at the bottom right.
  2. Click “New page” and name the page.

The pages you add will appear in the right “Pages” menu, and the name of each page will be displayed in the top navigation. Click “More” for a page, and select “Hide from the navigation” to hide the page from the navigation. You can also delete the page by clicking “Delete” from the same drop-down menu.
